About Proud

In 1994 New Orleanians adopted the phrase, “New Orleans: Proud To Call It Home.”  Now it’s time to take that slogan to the next level -- to other parts of the country and the world. The Young Leadership Council (YLC) created that campaign because it saw a need in our community to rebuild our pride in New Orleans; the message seems more relevant now than it did a decade ago.

The New Orleans: Proud To Call It Home Tour is designed to bring the food, music, arts, and culture of New Orleans to the cities where most of our evacuees have landed, in order to remind them of home and encourage their return as soon as possible.

Goals of Our Campaign:

• YLC wants you, whomever and wherever the storm took you to, to return home to New Orleans to help us rebuild and reclaim our unique culture.
• YLC wants to share a message of confirmation to those who are already here at home, hard at work, to know that you are not alone. We are all working together to rebuild our city and our culture.
